Coffee and Croissants in Sapa

Considering how touristy Sapa is and the post colonial French influence in the town, it is no surprise that there are many places to sit down and enjoy a freshly baked baguette and a cup of coffee that’s not necessarily the Vietnamese filter kind. But to enjoy the comforts of what I believe is the best cafe in Sapa, you need to hike up to lovely Baguette and Chocolat.

This delightful cafe, has a French owner and does the best baguettes, croissants, cookies and coffee in Sapa. They also do hearty breakfasts of eggs, hash browns, yogurt with local honey and waffles. As if all of that wasn’t good enough, they are also responsible for making me fall head over heels in love with Vietnamese filter coffee.

I must admit that the place is slightly pricey by Sapa standards, but considering the high quality, excellent service by their ever smiling staff and the fact that it supports disadvantaged youth from the local community, I did not mind it.

Lucky for me, the cafe was very close to the Sapa O’Chau School where I was volunteering and so it ended up becoming my go to place for a delicious lunch of baguette and rich filter coffee. It served as an ideal place to work on preparing lesson plans and catching up on emails. I pretty much loved everything that I ordered and the lemon tart was specially amazing.  The cafe also runs a cooking school and accepts volunteers to teach local youth who are often employed by the cafe.

If you’re looking for a cool place to work on your laptop (with free wifi), read a book or simply enjoy a delicious croissant in Sapa, I highly recommend Baguette and Chocolat. Here are some pictures of my favorites from their menu.

Please note that all opinions expressed in this post are my own and I have not been asked to make or paid for any recommendation/ endorsement of Baguette and Chocolat.
