Almost Wonderland at Dubai Miracle Garden

Oh Dubai, I know you like to go really big and spectacular but did you have to actually go and make your own version of Wonderland?! That’s exactly what it feels like as you walk into the Dubai Miracle Garden, though you can’t be blamed for thinking you’re walking on a massive color palette.

Though essentially a desert region, it’s a well-known fact that nothing is impossible in Dubai. After all, we have everything you don’t expect in a typical desert landscape, from man-made palm shaped islands to miles of beautiful beaches and an impressive cityscape of glittering skyscrapers. If you were missing landscaped gardens, then don’t think twice before heading to one of the city’s relatively new green (and red, yellow, pink and blue) spaces. Visiting the Dubai Miracle Garden is also one of the best things to do in Dubai on a budget

The 2000 square meter garden close to Dubailand was conceptualized as an outdoor spot that would be loved by both residents looking for activities that didn’t involve shopping or the movies, and tourists eager to explore the city and its remarkable attractions. I think it’s a great choice for visitors to the city, especially if you like gardens or are traveling with children. It’s definitely worth checking out if you live in Dubai and are aching to see a different side of the city.

Full of quirky, cute and vibrant features like flowery tailed peacocks, a giant floral clock, a Burj Khalifa made of multi colored blooms and flower adorned hearts that you can walk through, there’s an unmistakable fantasy like feel to the garden that appeals not only to children but also to adults. The stuff of fairytales, floral structures; houses, mansions and a building that looks like an Ottoman style castle stand tall, with their doors shut as though hiding elves and other fairy folk within.

Tickets are very reasonably priced at AED 30 for adults, though it can get very crowded on the weekends; so go early in the day if you can only make it on the weekend. You’re not allowed to get too close to the flowers or touch or trample them; this gardens is very intricately sculpted and landscaped and when you see it you’ll understand why there are strict guards keeping close watch on visitors. There’s a large seating area with chairs and tables with a beautiful flower adorned roof through which you can enjoy the lovely sunshine and enjoy a picnic. You can bring your own food or choose to eat at one of the few outlets in this area.

Right next-door is the Butterfly Garden, which recently opened its doors to the public. It’s worth it to visit this one to see different species of butterflies in temperature controlled domes.

Here are some pictures that I hope can convince you to go check it out if you’re ever in Dubai 🙂 Click on any image to view the gallery and large images.
